About Me

As a global citizen and junior scholar, I am excited by interdisciplinary scholarship rooted in feminist, intersectional, therapeutic discourses. I am drawn to theories and research that respectfully honour the experiences of people and communities who are marginalized and minoritized, with a keen interest in the identities and practices of immigrants.

I teach from an impassioned, strength-based orientation that offers students the opportunity to ground their theoretical learnings in individual and shared experiences, to consciously connect theory and practice, and to stretch beyond comfort levels while grappling with unfamiliar discourses.

My academic goals include contributing to the growing fields of research that explore the experiences of people of colour and to knit together the fields of therapeutic recreation, early childhood studies, health education, international studies, child and youth care, and spirituality.

I am most passionate about the fields of: Therapeutic Recreation, Child & Youth Development, Health Education, Complex Identity Formation & Development, Spiritual Wellness, International Child & Family Programming, and Grappling with Reclaiming Marginalized and Minoritized Immigrant Identities.

My teaching and research is inspired by those I get to share space with, as a Child and Youth Care Counsellor, and as a community member. It is the narratives shared with me that spark my sense of curiosity and my desire to learn more.
